In the State of Florida, a registered agent is a business or individual designated to receive service of process (SOP) when a business entity is a party in a legal action such as a lawsuit, Subpoena for Records or summons. In Florida the Registered Agent function is also referred to as a resident agent or statutory agent, however Florida statutes call this function "registered agent."
